State Police: Chenango County Church Fire was Arson, Man Arrested & Released

New York State Police at Norwich have arrested Brian C. Carver, age 39 of Earlville, after an arson fire at the Lighthouse Community Church on South Main Street in the village of Earlville.  He has been charged with the Class C Felony of Arson in the third degree.

State toopers were dispatched by Chenango County 911 at approximately 10:32 p.m. Wednesday. When troopers arrived on scene, they found the church fully engulfed in flames. Troopers located Carver not far from the church on South Main Street and he was taken into custody. Carver was transported to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and released.

Carver was then transported by troopers to State Police headquarters in Norwich where he was processed and arraigned remotely via computer. Carver was released and is ordered to appear in the village of Earlville court on May 13.

Troopers were assisted by Chenango County Sheriff’s Deputies, Earlville Fire, North Norwich Fire, Sherburne Fire and EMS, Smyrna Fire, Hamilton Fire, Chenango County Bureau of Fire Investigation, New York State Fire Investigators and NYSEG.
