On April 12, New York State Police at Sidney arrested Dennis P. Lafferty, age 38, of Unadilla, a few hours apart on two separate complaints.
At approximately 1:37 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Clifton Street in the village of Unadilla. Troopers located Lafferty on the back porch. According to a complainant, Lafferty was making threats to physically harm one of the residents. An investigation revealed Lafferty was previously issued a full stay away order of protection by a court that protects the residents in the home. Lafferty was arrested and charged with the felony of Criminal Contempt in the first degree. He was arraigned by teleconference and released on his own recognizance. The judge did however order Lafferty to stay away from the residence.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., and about an hour after arraignment, troopers contacted the victim to follow-up on the original case and learned that Lafferty was once again at the residence. Troopers again located Lafferty on the back porch of the victim’s property and he was arrested again and charged this time with the misdemeanor of Criminal Contempt in the second degree (violate court order). Lafferty was arraigned by teleconference and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond.
