The Binghamton Police have released the name of the person of interest in the murder of Binghamton University senior Haley Anderson of Westbury, Long Island. 22-year-old Orlando Tercero has been named as the suspect. Authorities say he fled to Nicaragua, prior to the discovery of the crime. Tercero was born in Florida, but it is believed he may have dual citizenship. Nicaragua does not have an extradition treaty with the United States.

Anderson and Tercero had been in a relationship at one time. The case will go to a grand jury, and if an indictment is issued, a warrant for Tercero’s arrest will be filed. The Department of State will then be contacted and a request will be made to extradite Tercero back to the United States.

Anyone with information should contact the Binghamton Police at 607-772-7080.

Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing cancelled classes on Monday out of respect for the victim.
