WHAT: Members of the Endicott Fire department Local 1280 together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will fan out across the Endicott area with boots in hand, asking pedestrians, motorists, customers and other passersby to make a donation to MDA for the fire fighters’ annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign.
WHERE: Corner of North St. and N. McKinley Ave., Village of Endicott
WHEN: Friday, November 29th
9:00am – 1:00pm
WHY: For 65 years, fire fighters have stood on the front lines to help MDA raise critical funds to help transform the lives of kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related muscle-debilitating diseases.
Funds raised through 2019 Endicott Fill the Boot drives help the MDA save lives and lift those up in need, by providing the MDA with vital resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Center at SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.
The IAFF and MDA are collaborating on a campaign to encourage states to expand newborn screening programs by adding tests for specific neuromuscular disorders so that all newborns with these conditions can have the best possible chance at receiving the care and support services they need as early as possible.
They also help give more than 52 local kids the opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA Summer Camp at no cost to their families at the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush, NY.
