The Owego-Apalachin Board of Education will focus on financial matters this week. The school board will hold a special public budget workshop … that’s happening Monday evening at 6 p.m. at the OA district office. Members and administrators will discuss the next step after voters last week rejected the proposed $47.9 million 2019-2020 budget. The spending plan proposed a tax increase of 3.83% which school officials said in a statement was under the state property tax cap for the district. While voters said no to the budget, they did approve the purchase of five buses and funding for two libraries. The Board of Education will then meet in regular session on Thursday. That meeting is also in the district office and begins at 7 p.m.
