Fuddy Duddy’s Welcome New Owners to Owego Shop

In January 2019, Suzan and David Williams, owners of Fuddy Duddy’s Fudge and Confectionery, announced their intention to sell their beloved business that they nurtured for over 10 years. After a lengthy search for the “right” party to carry on the tradition, it has been announced that the new owners, Stephen and Kimberly Cruty, of Apalachin, have acquired the popular confectionery, effective August 1.

A Popular and Sweet Destination

Since its original founding in 1998, Fuddy Duddy’s has become a popular shopping destination for sweet-lovers and gift-givers alike. In addition to its flagship location at 27 Lake St. in the Historic Downtown Owego Shopping District, the business has expanded to a second location at 257 Vestal Parkway East in Vestal.

Building on Tradition

Looking ahead, Steve and Kim Cruty understand that they’ve inherited a strong brand with a loyal following. “Fuddy Fans know us for our homemade cookies, fudge, truffles and other delicacies.
Those will always be available” said Steve Cruty. “We’re looking to improve our offerings through “on demand” baking to ensure the freshest quality.”

“In addition, we’ll be increasing our selection of freshly made baked goods, providing a greater variety of handmade and hand-selected chocolates, confections, sweets and savory treats and offering some of the best food and beverage products sourced locally from our home area,” Kimberly Cruty added, “and while we love to have everyone visit us at our stores, we understand how people shop today. In time, we’ll be improving and expanding our online shopping experience and look forward to working with our local educational and business community to help them with wholesale selections and corporate gifting needs. As long-term residents of Tioga County, we enjoy living here, and shopping here. We feel very fortunate to have been presented this opportunity to keep a local treasure local.”
