The village of Owego is getting ready to switch is energy supplier from New York State Electric and Gas to Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance.  The energy will still be delivered by NYSEG through the traditional grid, but by switching suppliers, the village is hoping it, and its taxpayers will save money.  Village of Owego Mayor Mike Baratta joined the WEBO Morning Show on Thursday to tell our listeners about the change.  You can listen to the interview here:

The presentation material from MEGA is available here.

If you live in the Village of Owego, and have NYSEG as your default supplier, your supplier will automatically be changed to MEGA, unless you have opted out, or previously told NYSEG that they are your preferred supplier, and have place a block on your account from being switched to any other supplier.  The change will take effect in July.  If you wish to opt out, you must do so by June 14th.

The Town of Owego has also signed up its municipality and residents with MEGA, although they have opted for a slightly different plan.  Letters about the change were mailed to homes last week.
