Tioga Arts Council is currently making preparations to celebrate world literature in translation as part of the global event International Translation Day
and invites participants to share a literary work in translation. The event will take place on Sunday, September 29 at Riverow Bookshop, 187 Front Street in Owego.

The Tioga Arts Council will participate in this global event by celebrating literary artists from around the world, their works in translation, and the translators who make their works accessible in English. Participants may contribute a poem, short story, brief passage from a novel, or other literary work to be read in up to 15 minutes. Local translators are especially invited to read their own literary
translations.

The event was launched in 2014 and to date, has raised more than $22,000 for charity. Runners from 15 states and seven different countries have participated. This event is once again part of the Empire Road Race Series, a cross-promotion between eight races in the Greater Binghamton area.
