A wind chill warning has been issued for tomorrow night into Sunday morning by the National Weather Service in Binghamton. The warning has been issued for 4PM tomorrow through 1PM Sunday. Wind chill values are expected to be as low as 20 to 35 degrees below zero. This could lead to potential frostbite and hypothermia, as well as frozen pipes.
As a result of the low temperatures this weekend, the American Red Cross has released information on how to stay safe in cold weather. It’s best to wear multiple layers of lightweight clothing, including a hat and gloves to prevent losing body heat. Do not heat your home with an open oven or stove, and keep flammable materials away from space heaters. Be sure to bring your pets indoors as well.
