Donald Trump Jr., executive vice president of The Trump Organization and former President Donald Trump’s son, praised his father as a “fighter” during a talk Tuesday.

When asked by journalist Mike Allen about his opinions on Donald Trump’s recently announced Vice Presidential running mate, Sen. J. D. Vance, Trump Jr. praised Vance and added that he thought that Vance embodied ‘the American dream.’

Trump Jr. has historically been a public figure known to share his opinions openly on social media and at speaking engagements.

He has been frequently posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, in light of the events of the attempted assassination against his father.

“The leftwing media and Democrat political hacks are actually trying to ‘both sides’ some psychopath attempting to assassinate my father,” Trump Jr. said in a post on X from Sunday. “Just when you think these people can’t get any lower, they always do!!!”

Trump Jr. acknowledged how he is often seen as a “polarizing” public figure during the talk, and even referenced how he had previously been told that he was “blacklisted” from Fox News.

When asked about the assassination attempt against his father last weekend, Trump Jr. described it as a “heavy moment” and added that he got the news about the assassination attempt while he was out fishing with his daughter.

“It was 90 minutes before I even knew if he was alive,” Trump Jr. said. “That was a tough moment.”

Trump Jr. repeatedly praised his dad on Tuesday for his “resolve” after being shot during the campaign rally and added that his father is a “badass.”

“That’s what we need, I think, as a leader,” Trump Jr. said. “I never had any doubts, but if I ever did, and if anyone ever did, those should all go out of the window at that instant. To come out of that moment at that situation with that gravity, and say ‘we’re still in this game, we’re never gonna stop’, that’s why we had peace. That’s why our enemies were not invading their neighbors, that’s why we were able to get trade deals done and success. It’s that.”

Trump Jr. also called President Joe Biden “weak” compared to Donald Trump.

“One exudes strength, the other exudes weakness,” Trump Jr. said. “It’s the nature of predation, right? Predators prey on the weak. Our enemies will prey on us, and when America is clearly not leading or they’re clearly diminished or they don’t have that strength or resolve, it should be pretty obvious to everyone what happens these days.”

Trump Jr. acknowledged how some of his beliefs are seen as controversial.

“I’m not exactly known for being a wallflower,” Trump Jr. said. “And I say what I’m thinking and that can be perhaps controversial at times, and it doesn’t really matter, I’ll say it.”

When Trump Jr. was asked whose fault it was concerning what happened with the attempted assassination against Donald Trump, he expressed disbelief about the events that occurred but said that he did not want to ‘get conspiratorial.’

“But, having had a Secret Service detail myself, having seen what they do for a former president for now four years, having seen what they do for a president, a guy does not get on a rooftop with a rifle where there’s people,” Trump Jr. said. “And now I’ve seen the videos for five minutes saying ‘there’s a guy on the rooftop with a gun’. It literally doesn’t happen.”

“That doesn’t happen without a serious breach of something,” Trump Jr. added.

He added that he did not want to ‘push conspiracies’ about Saturday’s violent events.

“I won’t push conspiracies, but these are just facts that I can’t reconcile in any way shape or form,” Trump Jr. said. “And I’m also someone who has sort of inside knowledge on how these things are done, how these guys prepare, how thorough they usually are, because I’ve witnessed it for eight years.”

Trump Jr. spoke critically of Biden when asked about if he would want Biden to continue running in this year’s presidential race or not.

“You know what, it doesn’t matter,” Trump Jr. said in response. “I honestly don’t believe that he is the guy making any of the decisions anyway.”

“I don’t know, but I don’t believe that an 80 year old Catholic guy is the guy that thinks that gender affirming care for three year olds is the social justice issue of our time,” Trump Jr. said. “I don’t believe that, so someone is writing the talking points. He tries to get through it on a teleprompter. But I don’t know, I don’t know who people are actually voting for if he is on that ticket.”

Trump Jr. emphasized how his father is “energetic” and “entertaining” at public speaking events compared to Biden.

Trump Jr. also slammed Vice President Kamala Harris when asked if the Trump campaign strategy would change at all if Harris ended up running as the Democratic presidential candidate this year instead of Biden.

“I don’t look at them sort of any differently,” Trump Jr. said. “There’s a component of me that actually would rather run against her in the sense that we’ve also heard her speak, and the word salad conversations, it’s like she makes Hillary Clinton seem likable at times, which is shocking to me.”

Trump Jr. also made comments about the media coverage surrounding President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, who has recently been faced with legal scrutiny, during the discussion.

“I understand that according to the media I’m not the upstanding citizen that Hunter Biden is,” Trump Jr. said. “I get that. But, I guess I’m just willing to have real conversations. I’m not willing to just settle in on the talking points. I will prosecute my case aggressively. You know, these days that makes you polarizing, I guess.”
