Former President Donald Trump plans to reveal his pick for vice president in July at the Republican National Convention.
Trump, 77, told Dr. Phil McGraw during an interview that he plans to make the announcement at the convention, which is four days after Trump is scheduled to be sentenced by a judge after a jury found him guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Under New York state law, falsifying business records in the first degree is a Class E felony with a maximum sentence of four years in prison per count.
“I’m going to do it in the convention,” Trump said.
The Republican National Committee has said it’s planning for the possibility that Trump could be jailed during the convention.
