Albany Attorney Suspended for Trading Legal Services for Sex

A former Albany County public defender has been suspended from practicing law for one year by the Appellate Division of the State Supreme Court.
Matthew Swedick was suspended for providing legal services in exchange for sex from a client.
He was convicted of official misconduct in December 2009, sentenced to one year in jail, but has been free while his conviction is appealed.
Swedick’s attorney said his client was disappointed by the disciplinary ruling.
