After nearly six years a woman convicted of setting fire to her Cortland business is in jail. Andrea Stevens surrendered herself to the court today. Stevens was sentenced last year to one to three years in prison for setting fire to her store Smooches back in 2005. But that sentence was stayed pending the outcome of an appeal which was denied last month. The fire destroyed two other businesses and prosecutors said it endangered the life of an elderly tenant in the building. Stevens’ lawyer Linda Campbell told YNN there is still a motion to vacate her conviction as well as another appeal pending in the case.

As far as paying restitution to the other business owners affected by the fire, that will be dealt with on a later date.
