On Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the New York State Police arrested Victor Nino, 57, of Uniondale, New York and Virgilio Taveres, 49, of Holles, N.Y., both for the Felony of Grand Larceny and also the felony of Unauthorized Practice.
The arrests were made following a joint investigation regarding insurance fraud and unlicensed practitioners at the “Dental Care” Dentist Office located on County Route 39 in the Town of Afton, Chenango County, N.Y.
Taveras was practicing under the name Dr. Michael Goodman.
Patients told authorities Taveras performed regular cleanings, root canals and tooth extractions.
The defendants were arraigned in the Town of Afton Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The investigation is continuing.
