On February 4 at approximately 1:59 a.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Frank K. Kilanowski, 21, of Candor, for the misdemeanor of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and he was issued numerous tickets in several jurisdictions after he attempted to evade troopers while on Route 96 in Candor.
Troopers observed the vehicle Kilanowski was operating to have an equipment violation and attempted to make a traffic stop. They observed Kilanowski speed up to a high rate of speed. The pursuit was terminated for safety when the vehicle entered the Town of Ithaca. The troopers ended up locating the vehicle on Route 79 east out of Ithaca slowing down then coming to a stop because Kilanowski ran out of gas.
He was taken into custody without incident. He was later released on appearance tickets in the towns of Candor, Danby, Ithaca and Richford.
