U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer has announced that the East Branch Fire District in Delaware County has received a federal grant totaling $199,500.
The funds are from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
East Branch will purchase a commercial five-man class A pumper truck, replacing a 26 year old truck that is outdated and unsafe for firefighters.
Senator Schumer wrote directly to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano in support of this application.
