A teacher in the Harpursville School District is being investigated for alleged misconduct with a student-athlete. The superintendent confirms the district is looking into the claims and the teacher has been assigned off campus as the case proceeds. The district would not confirm the name of the individual. The superintendent issued a statement saying, “We are conducting a full investigation into the matter. State and federal law prohibit the district from discussing the details of ongoing personnel matters. Once the investigation is complete, the district will take appropriate action if warranted.” The superintendent says the case has not been deemed a police matter.
