Holiday Stop-DWI Crackdown Is Underway Until January 1

New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies in the Southern Tier are participating in a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving now underway until January 1, 2020.


Police are taking to the roads in an effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives. The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts started on December 11.
Research shows high-visibility enforcement can reduce impaired driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. Sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols play a key role in raising awareness about the problem.


The current STOP-DWI Holiday Crackdown is one of several statewide enforcement initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. These campaign also target the 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Super Bowl weekend and St. Patrick’s Day.
