Local state representatives we talked to are on board with the governor’s plans.
Assemblyman Christopher Friend, a Republican, is just starting his first term.
“I was very optimistic and energized by what Andrew Cuomo had to say (Wednesday),” he said. “This is just what we need Upstate and what we need across all of New York State.”
Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, another Republican, is also looking forward to the governor’s plans.
“I was very pleased with his speech, very positive, very powerful speech,” he told WEBO. “I liked his concept about consolidating government, that’s what our minority conference has proposed in the last three years.”
A third Assemblyman, Republican Gary Finch, wrote in a press release that he is encouraged by Cuomo’s proposed direction for the state.
