375 Natural Gas wells were drilled in Bradford County in 2010 according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, more than any other Pennsylvania county.
Tioga County, Pennsylvania placed second with 261 wells drilled.
Much of the drilling activity was from three companies. Chesapeake Appalachia with 131; Range Resources Appalachia with 121, and East Resources with 104. All of the wells were drilled in the Marcellus Shale.
Bradford County, Pennsylvania is just south of Tioga County New York.
