A planned memorial park for the victims of the American Civic Association shooting is in the running for a $50,000 grant.
The project is one of the finalists for a Pepsi Refresh Everything grant. To win, it must be among the top 10 vote-getters on www.refresheverything.com for the month of December. Voting opens on Dec. 1.
The ACA Memorial Park Committee has raised $110,000 for the project so far. They need almost $90,000 more, according to project coordinator David Marsland. He hopes to break ground in the spring.
