New affordable housing has officially opened in Ithaca. On Wednesday, elected officials and leaders in the Ithaca community celebrated the opening of Breckenridge Place. Two nonprofit organizations, Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services and Pathstone Corporation, have worked for over four years to make the project a reality. The six-story building is the first affordable housing project in Ithaca in 40 years, and offers affordable housing to up to 50 families. There are one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 600 to 800 square feet, with some apartments handicap adaptable. Rent ranges from $600 to $1,000 per month. The building stands at the former site of the Women’s Community building.
