Archaeological findings during construction of OES presented to public

Residents gathered in the Owego Elementary School yesterday afternoon to hear from members of the team that conducted archaeological digs in the areas of the new Owego Elementary School and maintenance facility. Faculty from Binghamton University and its Public Archaeology Facility, as well as, a representative from the Onondaga Nation were at yesterday’s event to provide insight on the artifacts found as well as the people who used them. Members of the archaeological team at OES say that over 500 artifacts were found at the sites. Those artifacts are currently in the laboratory of the Public Archaeology Facility being documented and researched.
