A fire in Athens displaced a family of seven Tuesday.
The blaze broke out at the home, across from the Endless Mountain Transportation Authority offices on Route 220, just after 12pm.
Athens Township Fire Chief William Kneebone says it was caused by a child playing with a lighter in a bedroom. He says it was mostly contained to the bedroom. No injuries were reported.
The Red Cross is providing shelter for the seven, which consist of a husband and wife, one of their parents and their four children. The Red Cross is also providing storage containers for the family’s personal belongings.
The fire chief says the home can be repaired.
