A new $60 million facility has been opened on the Cornell University campus with help from Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Gates and his wife, Melinda, partially funded the new Bill and Melinda Gates Hall, which brings together Cornell’s Computer Science and Information Science Departments. Before the new building, the departments were spread on separate parts of campus. Gates Hall is also designed to connect directly with Cornell’s new New York City tech campus, with microphones and cameras able to bring students and staff at the two locations face-to-face.
