The Athens Borough Council is considering putting a traffic light or signal at one if the borough’s busiest intersections.
According to the Morning Times, borough officials are looking into placing a traffic or blinking light at the intersection of State Route 199 and South Main Street for safety purposes.
The borough will be sending letters of support to the Athens Area School District, Chambers Transportation and State Rep. Tina Pickett.
The traffic signal would need to be approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
If approved, the borough would have to fund and maintain the traffic signal.
