An Athens man who is already in state prison has been sentenced to several decades behind bars on new federal charges.
According to the Department of Justice, 29-year-old Benjamin Wheeler was sentenced to 24 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation for the federal offense of one count of production of child sex abuse material.
Wheeler was sentenced on Tuesday, April 15 for the crime, which occurred back in the summer of 2022.
He is already serving a state sentence of 16 to 35 years for the offense of deviate sexual intercourse from an incident in 2021.
