An Athens man will serve up to 5 ½ years in prison for driving while under the influence of illegal narcotics twice last year.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 67-year-old Michael A. Ludwig was sentenced to a minimum of 18 months to a maximum of 5 ½ years in a state prison following two convictions of driving under the influence.

Ludwig pleaded guilty to both charges in July.

Back in March of 2023, Ludwig was arrested by state police for Driving Under the Influence in Sheshequin Township. About a month later, while he was out on bail, Ludwig was arrested for a DUI in North Towanda.

Ludwig refused to submit to chemical testing during both arrests, but police found drugs in his car.
