A public presentation was held on Tuesday evening on the potential merger between the Athens and Sayre area school districts.
The company that completed the study, Alloy 5, presented the information to members of the public inside the Sayre High School Auditorium as well as an audience watching on a live stream.
The study provided several options for the two school districts moving forward.
The first was to remain two separate school districts.
The second was a complete merger with a new combined school district that would utilize Athens High School with a new addition, Lynch Bustin Elementary School with an addition, Harlan Rowe Middle School with an addition and a new Athens-Sayre Intermediate School all on the Athens campus.
The third proposal was called Athens-Sayre United, which is a hybrid option. That would utilize SRU, Snyder and Lynch-Bustin elementary schools as well as Harlan Rowe Middle School with a new addition and Athens High School with an addition.
The final proposal was called Athens Sayre United New Option, which would utilize all three elementary schools, Athens High School with a new addition and then demolishing the current Harlan Rowe Middle School and building a brand-new Athens-Sayre Area Middle School.
A community feedback session will be held on Wednesday, June 12th at 6 p.m. at the Athens High School Auditorium. Residents from both school districts are invited to attend and share their feedback, comments, concerns or questions directly with Alloy 5 and its partners.
