The Athens Wildcats captured the 2024 District IV Team Class AAA Golf Championship with a record-breaking performance at White Deer Golf Course on Wednesday.
The Wildcats broke the school record with a team score of 306, to beat out second-place Jersey Shore by 17 strokes.
Athens was led by Eli Hicks, who shot a one-over par round of 73 with three birdies on his card. Dylan Saxon fired a 75 with a pair of birdies, while Ty Owen carded a 76 with two birdies and Brady Darrow added an 82.
It was even more impressive due to Mother Nature making conditions less than ideal with rain falling throughout the day.
