After careful consideration and review of participation trends over the past few years, the Bradford County Commissioners have made the difficult decision to discontinue its annual half marathon race, traditionally held in October.

While the event has been a beloved tradition in the community, low turnout numbers over recent years have made it challenging to sustain.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication of our runners who have participated in the half marathon over the years,” said Michelle L Shedden, Chief Clerk.

The Walk for Our Buddies event has consistently shown strong support from participants and spectators alike. This popular event will continue to be a staple in Bradford County’s summer series calendar.

“We’re excited to announce details about this year’s Walk for Our Buddies event soon,” added Melinda Godshall. “We’re committed to building on its success and making it an
even more enjoyable experience for all participants.”

The decision to discontinue the half marathon race does not diminish the county’s commitment to supporting local athletics and community events. Bradford County looks forward to continuing to host Walk for Our Buddies, which has become a beloved tradition in its own right.
