The Bradford County Commissioners made a major donation to help the Towanda Borough Police Department acquire a K9 vehicle.
The commissioners donated $25,000 from ACT 13 funds to help the local police department replace its 2012 Chevy Tahoe with a new 2025 model.
The new vehicle is expected to cost over $93,000. It is built to protect the department’s K9 in the event of a car accident.
Towanda Police Officer John Hennessy and his K9 Hades are the only active municipal police dog team in Bradford County.
Hades is trained in narcotics tracking and evidence searches. He works in Towanda Borough and county jail as well as local school districts.
