Elmira man arrested for robbery, assault at Athens Township business

An Elmira man was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to rob an Elmira Street business and assaulted one employee.

According to the Athens Township Police, 30-year-old Shaquille D. Gore has been charged with robbery – inflicting bodily injury, a grade-two felony; as well as simple assault, disorderly conduct, possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

The incident took place at the Auto Zone on Elmira Street just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7th.

Gore allegedly tried to steal merchandise by putting items in his pants. After refusing to put the items back, he reportedly elbowed and punched an employee when they attempted to stop him.

The suspect was later arrested at Walmart. He was remanded to the Bradford County Jail on $150,000 bail.
