An extreme heat warning remains in effect throughout the Twin Tiers until 8 pm tonight with a heat advisory in effect until Wednesday night.
The extreme heat warning is for dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 expected.
The warnings are in place for Bradford County in Pennsylvania and Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins Counties in New York.
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
People should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
