A flood watch is in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening for several counties in both Pennsylvania and New York.
Bradford County and Tioga County in Pennsylvania along with Broome, Chemung, Tioga and Steuben Counties in New York are all in the flood watch zone.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Precipitation amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected through Thursday night with much of this expected to fall as rain. Some percentage will change over to mixed precipitation and snow, but the resulting runoff into area watersheds is expected to cause significant rises in area rivers with potential flooding beginning by Thursday morning.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
