A former Bradford County youth pastor, who was wanted on multiple sexual assault-related charges dating back two decades, was arrested while attempting to travel from Australia to the Philippines.
In April of 2022, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced charges against now-54-year-old Robert Fenton, who was at the time believed to be working in a church in Australia. Then attorney general and current governor Josh Shapiro called for his extradition to the United States.
Fenton was detained last week when he attempted to enter the Philippines. He was barred from entering the country due to a positive hit in the Interpol system. He was placed on a flight to Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 23.
The former pastor is accused of sexually abusing a victim between 1996 and 1998 when the victim was around 14 years old and Fenton was 26.
Fenton has been charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and other related charges.
