The Pennsylvania State Trooper who was convicted of vehicular homicide for causing the crash that killed a Troy teacher last year has been sentenced.
According to Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, former state trooper Michael J. Brown was sentenced to a minimum of six months to a maximum of 23 months in prison after he was found guilty of third-degree felony homicide by vehicle on May 31st in Tioga County Court.
Brown was found responsible for the crash that killed Troy teacher Christine Woodward back in February of 2023.
Brown was off duty and heading to work when he tried to pass a vehicle on double yellow lines on Route 6 in Sullivan Township in Tioga County when he hit the car driven by Woodward.
Brown will begin his prison sentence on November 1. He has also been ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and more than $4,000 in restitution for funeral expenses.
