A local tradition teed off once again in support of children impacted by crime.
Golf FORE Kids returned to The Club at Shepard Hills Friday, raising money for The Children’s House Child Advocacy Center in Towanda.
The nonprofit provides a safe, neutral space where children can be interviewed by law enforcement and Children and Youth Services—helping limit how many times a child has to relive traumatic events. It also offers support and resources for children and caregivers who may also be victims.
Funds raised help cover items not included in grant funding, like snacks, fidget toys for therapy, and recording media used in forensic interviews.
Executive Director Brittney Mink says Bradford County has one of the highest rates of substantiated child abuse per capita in Pennsylvania—even higher than Philadelphia County.
Started during the pandemic, the golf tournament continues to grow. This year’s event featured putting and long drive contests, a scavenger hunt with pinwheels symbolizing child abuse prevention, and a prize for the “par-fectly dressed” team.
Mink says the community’s support has been overwhelming—and deeply appreciated.
