SAYRE — The Valley will soon be losing another beloved business as Horn’s True Value has announced it will be closing its doors following an upcoming retirement sale.

Residents in the Twin Tiers have been shopping at Horn’s True Value for 112 years.

From Thursday, Feb. 15 through Wednesday, Feb. 21, Horn’s True Value will start its final sale, which is designed to get rid of everything inside the store.

Owner Bernie Duggan announced in a letter that he has decided to close the store and retire after being a part of the fourth generation to run the legendary Valley business.

Bernie’s wife Karen, who was the heart and soul of Horn’s True Value, recently passed away. For more than 50 years, Karen helped make the business a pillar of the community.

The store will be open every day starting this Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm during the week and 8 am to 3 on the weekends until they finally close the doors for good.
