A 14-year-old girl was killed in a shooting that occurred in Windham Township on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident took place shortly after noon in the area of State Route 187 and Merrill Hill Road.
No arrests have been made at this time, but police said there is no threat to the public.
The identity of the victim has not been released. However, the Towanda Area School District put out a statement on Facebook informing the community that a former student had passed away on Tuesday.
The school district is offering grief counseling services to students and staff today from 9 am to 3 pm in the Towanda Elementary School library.
