Longtime Pennsylvania State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) is inviting area seniors and their families to her 23rd Bradford County Senior Expo on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lynch-Bustin Elementary School in Athens.

“My staff and I are excited to host this popular event every year and visit with the hundreds of seniors who attend,” said Pickett. “Our expo provides a unique opportunity to learn about the wide variety of programs and services available to older residents in our area.”

Dozens of exhibitors will be on hand to provide information on health care, insurance, nutrition and exercise, financial planning, fraud protection, government services, veterans benefits and more.

As part of the expo, Pickett will hold a town hall meeting in the school’s cafeteria at 11:30 a.m.

A free paper shredding service will be available from 10 a.m. to noon courtesy of North Central Sight Services (two-box limit). The shredder truck will be located in the parking lot. Residents only, no businesses please.

Attendees can also safely dispose of expired prescription drugs at the drop-off box provided by the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.

The school, which is air-conditioned, is located at 253 Pennsylvania Ave. in Athens. Attendees should take the second Athens business exit off U.S. Route 220 to Pine Street. A shuttle service will be available to the building’s front door.

Anyone with questions about the expo should contact Pickett’s district office in Sayre at 570-888-9011.

Her district offices in Sayre and Towanda will be closed on Thursday, July 25, and Friday, July 26, so staff can prepare for the event and attend it. Pickett’s district office in Tunkhannock will also be closed on Friday, July 26.
