Sayre man facing strangulation, assault charges

A Sayre man is behind bars after he allegedly strangled someone at a home in Sayre Borough this week.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 29-year-old Francis Mukisa has been charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, false imprisonment and terroristic threats.

The victim said Mukisa became angry and verbally abusive on Sunday, Sept. 1. It was reported that the suspect had been drinking.

According to police, the victim attempted to go to another room when Mukisa forced them to stay in the room. The suspect allegedly started to strangle the victim. After the assault, the victim said Mukisa threatened to kill them if they called the police.

The victim escaped the home when the suspect reportedly passed out.

Mukisa was arraigned on Sept. 2 and remanded without bail to the Bradford County Jail.
