Sparks from a train caused a brush fire in Wysox Township on Monday.
According to The Daily Review, firefighters were called to the scene at around 11:39 a.m. on Monday.
A train operated by RJ Corman Railroad Group caused a spark that ignited the hillside in dry conditions. The fire was on the Wysox side of the train bridge behind GTP, about a half mile north of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Firefighters from Wysox, Towanda, North Towanda, Monroeton, Athens Borough, Wyalusing and Smithfield responded to the scene. They used rakes and shovels to combat the fire as the terrain made it difficult to get trucks to the scene.
The fires were mostly contained by around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
