The Bridge’s 24-hour Sleepout begins Friday afternoon

The Bridge of the Penn York Valley Churches is gearing up for their annual Sleepout Event this week.

The Bridge sets up a makeshift shelter each year in the parking lot of the Guthrie Desmond Street Practice, and starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, volunteers will sit out in the cold for 24 hours as a reminder that there are families in the Valley who don’t have a roof over their heads, food to eat or warm clothes to wear.

The Sleepout is a major fundraiser for the Bridge, which helps the community through many ministries, including a food pantry, clothes closet and furniture outlet.

Anyone interested in volunteering for The Bridge can call 570-867-2628 or visit thevalleybridge.com.

Donations can be dropped off during the Sleepout, sent to The Bridge at PO Box 202, Sayre, Pa, 18840 or through the website.
