Three arrested in connection with brutal Bradford County murder

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP – Three people have been charged in connection with the brutal murder of a man in Bradford County.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the murder of 40-year-old Michael Pruitt, who was shot to death on Friday, March 8. He was killed at the home of his girlfriend, 48-year-old Ronda Parker, on Sawyer Road in Springfield Township.

Ronda Parker and 46-year-old Terry Parker have both been charged with criminal homicide, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse for their role in the incident. A third person, 36-year-old Summer Heil, has also been charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

According to police, troopers responded to Ronda Parker’s home at around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11 for a welfare check, after they were alerted to a series of disturbing text messages. When they arrived, troopers said their investigation revealed a homicide did take that place at the location.

According to court documents, Pruitt was at Ronda Parker’s home when Terry Parker, who was previously in a relationship with Ronda, shot and killed the victim.

Ronda Parker told the state police that Terry Parker had impersonated her on her phone through text message and lured Pruitt to the home on Friday, March 8.

According to police, Ronda Parker said at about 6 p.m. on Friday she was in the master bedroom with a 1-year-old child, when Terry Parker sent her a message saying Pruitt had arrived. She later heard two gunshots from the kitchen.

Pruitt ran down the hall into the bedroom with Terry right behind him and he was shot again. Terry then allegedly shot the victim two more times once he was on the floor.

Police said they found droplets of blood on a kitchen wall, which they said had a fresh coat of paint when they arrived.

Terry and Ronda Parker allegedly wrapped Pruitt’s body and put it in the trunk of Terry’s car before they traveled to Harrisburg, where Terry was living.

According to police, the two suspects returned to Bradford County with Terry’s girlfriend, Summer Heil, with Pruitt’s body still in the trunk.

Heil told police that when they returned, Terry popped the trunk and said “That’s Michael.’ Heil said there was a large plastic bag in the trunk and Pruitt was wrapped in a sleeping bag.

Terry Parker allegedly took the bag to a mud pit on the property before unwrapping the victim from the sleeping bag. Heil told police she held Pruitt’s limbs while Terry Parker used an axe to cut them off.

According to court documents, Terry Parker allegedly took the body to a burn pit and burned the body along with Heil’s clothes.

Heil admitted that she also stabbed Pruitt in the chest and head because she was high of meth and angry about an allegation against Pruitt.

Police said they found bones in the burn pit and they are presumed to be human.

All three suspects were arraigned at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday in front of District Judge Jonathan Wilcox. They were all denied bail and remanded to the Bradford County Jail.
