A Towanda man was killed when he was hit by a truck driven by an alleged drunk driver on South Main Street in Towanda on Tuesday night.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 39-year-old Charles F. Scott of Columbia Cross Roads, was driving his Chevy Silverado north on South Main Street in Towanda Township at around 10 p.m. on July 30th when he left the roadway and hit a Kia Sorento that was legally parked on the shoulder.
39-year-old Travis Delamater of Towanda was standing near the rear passenger side of the SUV when he was struck by Scott’s truck. Delamater died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. A 33-year-old Towanda woman and a four-year-old child were standing on the driver’s side of the Kia when the crash occurred, and both were injured.
Scott sustained minor injuries from the crash. Police said Scott showed signs of being impaired and was arrested.
Scott has been charged with felony counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and accidents involving death or injury while not licensed as well as related misdemeanor charges.
He was sent to the Bradford County Jail on $300,000 bail.
