Truck accident damages bridge, forces part of Route 6 to be shut down

A portion of Route 6 near Troy was shut down after a truck carrying a large object struck a bridge, causing damage on Wednesday morning.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is advising motorists that Route 6 is closed in both directions between Route 4017 (Leona Road) and Route 3034 (Mud Creek Road), Troy Township, due to a vehicle striking the structure over Sugar Creek.

The truck and the large object were removed from the bridge by Wednesday evening.

A detour using Leona Road, Route 4014 (Springfield Road), and Route 14 will be in place for an undetermined length of time due to infrastructure damage to the bridge.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, and expect delays in travel.
