Two people are facing animal cruelty charges after they allegedly killed a dog in Towanda.
A Bradford County Humane Police Officers received a tip on Nov. 4 that a dog had been brutally killed.
According to court documents, Towanda resident Dixie Cabucci asked a friend, Kane Worthington, to come to her home for an emergency.
Cabucci told Worthington that her dog had been suffering from seizures, and she couldn’t wait until the weekend was over to have the dog euthanized by a veterinarian.
The pair wrapped the dog in a blanket and allegedly took it to an alley behind the home. According to police, Cabucci held the dog down and Worthington repeatedly hit the animal in the head with a hammer.
Both Cabucci and Worthington are charged with cruelty to an animal. Cabucci is also facing a Neglect of an Animal charge.
