Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala has been named commissioner of the state Department of Motor Vehicles by Governor Cuomo
Fiala held a noon press conference to announce her appointment.
She has been county executive since 2005.
State Senator Tom Libous said that Governor Cuomo has made an outstanding choice. She will be a great statewide representative and Commissioner.
Fiala was part of Governor Cuomo’s transition team for state and local government reform.
This was seen as an indication she would be named to some post in the administration.
