An Afton man was arrested by Broome County Sheriff’s deputies after he was caught transporting hundreds of bags of heroin. 45-year-old John Tipler was stopped Thursday afternoon in Sanitaria Springs after he was spotted in a car on Interstate 88 after the sheriff’s office had received information that he would be transporting narcotics.
Detectives pulled Tipler over near Exit 4 on the interstate and that’s where they found him to be in possession of 221 bags of heroin packaged for sale. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony. He was sent to the Broome County jail without bail.
